A One-Day Trip to Caesarea,
Akko (Acre) and Rosh Hanikra

Delve into Three of Israel's Historical Port Cities and the Enchanting Rosh Hanikra Grottos on this Full-Day Trip from Tel Aviv.

We will start our tour by picking you up from your lodgings and heading up north along the main Israeli Coastal Road.

Our first destination is ancient Caesarea, where the remains of the grandiose port city built by King Herod the Great line the Mediterranean shore. We'll visit the Caesarea National Park to explore the timeworn ruins of Herod’s harbor, the Roman amphitheater and other relics, and to learn how the port was named after the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus.

From Caesarea, we'll continue to Haifa, Israel’s third largest city, situated between Mount Carmel and the Mediterranean beaches. We'll stop at an observation point looking out onto the extraordinary world-famous Baha'i gardens, and view the Haifa bay and the Western Galilee.

Next, we'll continue to Akko, or Acre, once an important port city in ancient times. We'll explore some of the archaeological treasures in its Old City, a UNESCO-World Heritage Site, including the impressive Crusader Underground Halls, built by the Hospitallers Knights. They contain a complex of six halls, a recently excavated large hall, a dining room, a dungeon and remnants of an ancient Gothic church and a secret tunnel. We will also visit the city’s old port and stroll around the bustling Old City market to browse the stalls selling spices, herbs and trinkets.

After lunching in Acre, we’ll head north to the Israeli-Lebanon border and to Rosh Hanikra, an incredible geological creation where the sea has carved beautiful caverns from the white cliffs. At Rosh Hanikra, we'll descend down from the cliffs in the steepest cable car in the world, going down 70 meters at a 60 degrees angle. We will then walk in the astounding grottos and soak up the unique landscape and atmosphere.

After coming back up from the grottos, we'll finish our visit and start heading back to your lodgings.
